hello,
noted if you didn't use the phone for X amount of hours the phone would lock and require a pin/fingerprint and after you unlock it
says "phone is starting"

is this normal? please advice.
thanks

The locking after x amount of hours I think is 4 hours of no use it then requires a security method to unlock again. As for the "phone is starting" maybe the phone is rebooting? Check if auto restart feature is enabled and if not maybe something else is causing random reboots?

Also check the setting I think called secure startup. Disable that and your phone will startup before having to be unlocked and you won't see that "phone is starting" message after unlocking.

Actually, they removed secure start up from settings in the Note 10+. There's no way of disabling it.

The issue seems to appear after every unlock if I am reading the post correctly. In which case, that is not normal behaviour.

@annsn10plus this is happening on every unlock? It allows you to use both biometric or PIN entry? This is important to know as the "phone is starting" message only appears after the phone has restarted. Also if the phone has restarted, you will know as it will actually state "Use your PIN after restart" and will disable all biometric login. You can only use your PIN/Password on first unlock after reboot.

If it is allowing biometric or PIN login and does not give the phone restart message, then there is some issue. Not sure what it could be as it's definitely not normal behaviour.

@Vic20 Nope it's not removed but it's not called secure startup, it's called "Strong Protection" under Settings->Biometrics and security->Other security settings->Strong Protection.

Took me a while to figure it out and find it when I first got my Note 10+ but when I posted my reply I forgot about the name being changed to strong protection.

Strong protection is not the same as secure startup. It offers added encryption at startup from my understanding. Even if disabled, it will still ask you to enter PIN after restart. There's no way to disable secure startup. This has been removed.

@bloodwolfe and @vic20

its not happening on every unlock. only when the phone had not been touched for a while.

auto restart feature is enabled. sooo i turned it off now. but
is that auto restart feature a good thing to be on?

yup, secure start up is not showing when been searched in there settings.

if you didn't hear anymore from me then it's the auto restart feature👍👍

thanks🙏🙏🙏

Auto restart helps keep the device running optimally. Never hurts to have it enabled. :)

I still get every-time "Phone is Starting" after loggin in (pin)

I prefer that the phone boots up complete and only lock the screen

It does when it prevents you to receive notifications in the middle of the day, I've missed important stuff because of it only to notice that the phone was locked and not fully booted up, we should be able to decide for ourselves if we wanted this extra security or not

In this case, simply disable the auto restart or set it on a date that's not critical or important. I have mine disabled and restart manually every now and then. You can ask Samsung to bring back the feature, but I highly doubt they will.
