I always use Samsung's browser. I've updated to the latest version. I went into the settings, and set links to open in their associated app. Currently, this is not working for some apps. When I click on an Instagram link, it opens it up in the browser, then I get a message to switch to app, but it ends up going to the Playstore. At that time, they Playstore knows I already have the app installed, so it gives me the option to open the app. When I tap open, it opens the app, but not to the page if the original link. I tested Google Chrome, and it opens the app straight away, and to the right page from the original link in chrome. I've cleared data and cache, and it doesn't fix the issue. Please fix.

Hi WallyWest,
Please check if the app is up to date. Does it happen only with Instagram? Please try to open the link from other app and see if it works fine. Please uninstall and re-install the Instagram app. Also, share some screenshots as it would help us to assist you further.

Hi, this only happens with Instagram. I am running Samsung Internet v12.0.1.47, which is the latest version on my Note 10 Plus. I just uninstalled/reinstalled Instagram, and it did not fix the problem.
So here's what happens with screen shots,

I see an Instagram post embedded in an article. I click on the name or the "View Profile" button as shown in first pic. Instead of opening the link in Instagram, it opens the link in the browser as shown in second pic. I then tap on the "Switch To The App" button, and it opens the Google PlayStore as shown in the third pic. But because I already have the app installed, it gives me the option to open the app. When I tap "Open," it opens the app to my Instagram homepage. It doesn't even open the profile of the original Instagram post I was tapping on from the article.

I think this is a bug from Samsung Internet. Maybe moderator can report this issue to their team. I tried Google and Edge browsers too, both open Instagram app directly, only Samsung browser ask me to install and then in playstore said I already installed. I am having the same problem too.

Hi Kinsley,

I use one of the Instagram account to do an example.

If I click Open App and Switch to the app, I got redirect to Google Play Store Instagram download page, but not install, it is open button.

If I click on instagram icon on top, it opens the app.

So, I think the link should open app directly if the Instagram app is installed. Tried other browsers are open Instagram app directly without go to google play store when app has installed.

Also, I have no default set.

Ok so I don't have any default set in my Instagram account. One other thing I noticed is, certain Instagram links do work to open the app directly. These are the ones that are hyperlinks in an article. But the type of links that look like a screen shot of the Instagram post, don't work to open the app when you tap on them.

So the first pic is the type of instragram link that is a hyperlink. These links work to open the app immediately, when you tap on these types of Instagram links. The second pic, is the type of Instagram link that does not open the Instagram app when you tap on it. These links look more like a screenshots of the Instragram post.
