I always use Samsung's browser. I've updated to the latest version. I went into the settings, and set links to open in their associated app. Currently, this is not working for some apps. When I click on an Instagram link, it opens it up in the browser, then I get a message to switch to app, but it ends up going to the Playstore. At that time, they Playstore knows I already have the app installed, so it gives me the option to open the app. When I tap open, it opens the app, but not to the page if the original link. I tested Google Chrome, and it opens the app straight away, and to the right page from the original link in chrome. I've cleared data and cache, and it doesn't fix the issue. Please fix.

Hi WallyWest, I found something that may help you. Try my suggestion when you have time.

On your Samsung browser, click 3 bars on bottom right corner → Settings → Useful features → Open links in other apps

Toggle it to enable. It will ask you to open Instagram app, choose always and this should resolve your issue. Let me know the result.

Hi, I already have this enabled, but it only works for Instagram hyperlinks. It doesn't work for Instagram posts like the ones on my examples above. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hi wallywest, Please use the link to generate the error report from Samsung Members app so that our team can review the Log Files and will get back to you.
In step 5, please select ""Application"" category.
In step 6, Please check ""send the system log data"".

Mine is also having this issue. I've tried for 4+ months. Links used to always open in their own app. Now, they only open in Samsung Internet. I have the toggle enabled also. Chrome is also set as my default browser (always has since I got the phone 2+ years ago). Instagram, FB, TikTok, etc. They all go straight to Samsung internet instead of opening in app. VERY frustrating!

Its 11 june 2025, still isnt resolved, at least for secret mode. Other browsers work fine in redirecting the instagram link to the app as intended. Where as for samsung browser, it "works" by having an external app icon prompt beside the search bar for normal mode. However, if you dont click that and use the pop up defaulted by the web page, it links to instagram lite as a default. So naturally, for secret mode it isn't an option as there isn't the icon beside the link. Configurations are as follows:

1) Instagram app has been set to default app with supported links all checked.

2) Samsung internet browser has been trialled with the same link with external app toggled on or off. Results are the same.
