search option for gif keyboard?

recently my note8 got updated and has a gif keyboard which shows trending gifs and stuff but somehow i cant search for keywords the way I do at whatsapp. I can only choose whats available randomly?

Sadly that does seem to be the case, I'm sure eventually they'll update it to have a search function rather than just categories.

I use the Google G Board and I am able to search for gifs using that keyboard....
