I tried to google it but couldn't find and answer. I know if you leave the phone alone for 24 hours it'll ask for a password, but sometimes randomly it'll ask for a password instead of being able to use finger print or iris scan?

Usually if you make multiple failed attempts to unlock than it will ask you for password. If device is restarted, it will ask you for password.

It asks for a password periodically for security reasons.

Mine usually only ever asks after failed security attempts or if my device was off. If you have facial recognition on it could just be trying to pick up your face but not achieving it leading to failed attempts.

Hey @zicdeh, as others have said it is usually due to failed attempts.

that doesn't seem right, as it has asked me in the morning when I wake up, so hasn't had any failed attempts. also sometimes when I randomly pick it up

I have noted the same thing as you. I think it's just for security purpose nothing else

Security purposes as many have stated. This way if phone is either lost or stolen its harder to guess a password (the longer, & more complex the better). Fingerprints only have a rough success rate of 1 in 50,000 I have read, a complex password is much harder to get through, especially if you turn on wipe after 15 failed attempts option. Face recognition is even less secure than fingerprint. By your phone randomly asking for the user (owner or thief) to enter password it prevents them from getting a free usable phone that won't lock on them.

It happened to me as well with Samsung A51, once after waking up in the morning that's fine. but it asks couple of times in a day. they are doing it for security but when the phone is asks for password to unlock that time we might not be in a position to unlock it. very annoying

Happened to me too like right now. Its something else. Don’t give me the security bull **bleep**.

or 2 blank blank authentication **bleep** either. Or the phone was off or not used for 24 hour **bleep**.

We need a legit and workable answer, like yesterday.
and if you forget your password then what do you do?

factory reset or how do you get into your phone.
