I currently have 1Gb internet speeds at home. My router is the Linksys Velop mesh wifi with 3 Nodes. When I run a speed test on that computer, I consistently get 940+ Mb/s download speeds. When I connect to the 5ghz WiFi with my Note 10+, and I run the speedtest.net app to check wifi speeds, I get a maximum of around 180 Mb/s. I also get the same speeds when I use the Samsung internet browser and run the same speed test from the browser, with speedtest.net. I am not running any VPN. What could be causing my Note 10+ from getting full speeds? One thing to note, my upload speed is not affected. I get the same upload speeds as my PC that is connected through Ethernet. Very frustrating.

Hi WallyWest,
If you're experiencing Wi-Fi network issues on your Galaxy device, your first option is to power cycle the phone. This can be done by turning off the device and turning it back on. When connecting the device with the wifi, make sure the devices are within 10-15 meters to each other.
If the problem persists, you need to perform the reset network settings on your phone and check if it works fine.
Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset network settings > Reset settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including those for Wi-Fi, Mobile Data, Bluetooth.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried all that already, but didn't do any good unfortunately.

Hi WallyWest,

I think you mixed up Wifi speed and internet speed. You said:

I run the speedtest.net app to check wifi speeds, I get a maximum of around 180 Mb/s

Speedtest.net is checking your internet download speed.

If you want to see Wifi speed, you can click on Settings → Connection → Wifi→ click gear button on right side of your Wifi name. It shows your Wifi speed.

Seems like is internet download speed slow.

Hi Tallman,
The speed test app tests your data speeds regardless of source of data. So in my case, when I'm connected to Wi-Fi, and do a test, I don't get the full speed that my Wi-Fi is capable of, which is 1Gb/s. When I turn off Wi-Fi and use my mobile data, my speed is faster. This should not be. My Wi-Fi is much faster than my mobile data speeds. Have a look at my results. As you can see, the first column of the results shows the source of the data. I marked the two results that were run with mobile data. The rest of the results are using Wi-Fi, as indicated from the Wi-Fi icon in the first column.

My second screenshot shows what the Wi-Fi settings show for capable speed. But the speed test isn't coming close to those numbers.

Over WiFi, you cannot get 1Gbps. Even on network cable, cannot get 1Gbps in real life. But I admit that your download speed is slower than usual. I am using 300Mbps service and I can get about 240Mbps download from my phone. Perhaps, try restart your velop system?

I just reset my Velop before posting, no luck. What's odd is, the Wi-Fi settings recognizes that it's showing 650 Mbps connection, but I'm not getting that when I actually run a test. Nothing worst than paying for fast internet, but not getting the speed on your mobile devices. My wife's Note 10+ is giving the same results. Here's the speed I get right from my desktop.

I have velop too. You could try 1 more test. Turn off node 2 and 3. Leave master node on. Connect your phone to the WiFi. Do a speed test again. Is the speed still the same?

Also, if you have other connections going at the background will also slow down the speed. Most ISP require user connect directly to laptop to test.

I ran the test on my desktop, with the Velop dashboard as well as the desktop browser. Second purple pic is the browser.

I did as you suggested, turned off the nodes, left the parent node only on, no difference. I just recently upgraded to Gb connection, prior to this I was on a 300Mbps connection, and my wifi speeds were very similar, if not faster on occssion. So there is definitely an issue that is not allowing higher Wi-Fi speeds.

wifi speed will always be slower than your actual hardwired connection.
plus on top of it being wireless your phone doesn't have the ability to use all of it. and the internet it throttled and not a direct result of your actual speeds.
