2 things. i noticed that my s8 is not recording in 4k. How do i enable that or does it not record in 4k?

2nd thing is I can't play any 4k youtube videos on my cell or using the dex on my tv.

1440 is not 4k. so please don't tell me that.

The displays in the Galaxy S8 aren't actually 4k displays, they're Quad HD+ displays so slightly off from that of 4K. If you go into your display settings and then Screen Resolution, you'll see that the setting only goes to WQHD+ which has a resolution of 2960x1440 where 4K displays are 3840x2160.

As for 4k video recording, Open up your camera app - Settings - video size and set it to UHD (which is 4K). Note that you should have a good size microSD cause 4K vids will be big in size. Hope that helps :)

thanks for the info. so does that mean the videos I record in 4k must be played on another unit like a laptop for me to display 4k on my t.v.. When I'm connected to my dex it won't play 4k youtube vids.

I'm not entirely sure if Dex has 4K support for YouTube but it might for recorded videos, the YouTube application may still not be 100% dex supported so YouTube may pick up your S8s max resolution and not the Dex output. I don't have a Dex yet so I can't test it out for myself to be sure but someone with Dex like @SnowCat19 or @Jmak should chime in soon for Dex related questions. You could maybe pull up settings in Dex and maybe see if there's a display settings and the resolution to set it to 4k? Not sure if that setting exist but worth a shot to check😊

Just looked into it and Dex does support a 4K output but I found a review on it that states it's currently locked to 1080P output 😕

somehow I've gone and made things worst. now my audio keeps cutting out every 2 seconds no matter if it's a video or just music. grrr. thinking this dex thing is going back. waste of money.
