Buying an S22 Ultra directly from Samsung  I would have think upgrades would come faster. Not the case at all. No difference with phone coming from service provider. I like this phone, was with iphone before. Apple really have it on the customer service side. You do get what you pay for with Apple. And the S22 Ultra was the same price of a 13 pro max. Samsung should copy Apple there.

Unfortunately it doesn't matter who you purchase the device from..mobile phones are different types of electronics. It all depends on your network provider as Samsung does their own testing before releasing it to the network providers and then the network providers do their own in house testing before releasing it to it's customers.

Now....if Samsung could be a mobile provider as well that would be something 😎

When I bought the s22, I was with Bell. Phone was working fine. Now I am with Fizz. Still works fine. Same goes if you get your phone from Bell, then go to Roger's, it will work just fine. So like you said, it does not matter from the phone comes. Provider just put their **bleep** in the new version of Android. What is the difference with iPhone?

it's not really that simple.

I purchased my note 8 from freedom when it was launched. A few years later I removed the SIM card, unlocked and used it with wifi only.

it still received updates until the last one in December of 2020.

no provider/carrier involved.

and wifi tablets receive updates straight from samsung.

Even though the phone is unlocked, it was originally from Freedom so I'm quite sure the updates will still come from freedom.
My Z Flip 3 was originally from the US and it was with T-Mobile. I unlocked it and now just use it with wifi in Canada...but updates still come from T-Mobile.

And yes tablets are different kinda like laptops. The updates will come directly from Samsung as no carrier involved...unless you are using a LTE version with a sim card and a network provider.
