So im using the galaxy s22 ultra and before this just a few months back I had the galaxy s20+. I am currently facing issues with the Facebook app. I thought at first it was my s20+ so I went out and got a newer phone thinking that maybe the problem would be gone. Now I'm starting to believe the app itself for android is just garbage. I have tried wiping cache from recovery mode, uninstalling over and over with no success. I've done the same with my last phone. I even downloaded APKs from Google to see if it would make a difference. Problem is for years now I have not been able to receive notifications on my Facebook app. I went through the notifications settings over and over and made sure everything was on but still nothing. I don't receive any notifications whatsoever and sometimes even in the app if someone does leave a comment or anything it doesn't show up in my notification category. I will be scrolling casually through my news feed and find out through there that someone had commented on one of my posts days ago. It's strange. Also with messenger if someone sends me 10 pictures at once I cannot click the photo and then scroll right or left to view the next because it just won't let me. I have to exit the photo and go to the next one and then do the same for all the other pictures. Sometimes if I get a good 20 photos at once just imagine how annoying that is to have to exit out each picture when you're trying to save each one. Can't just scroll through them.

Hi RellyG,

Thanks for sharing the detailed issue. It seems like you've gone through extensive troubleshooting already.

If you're not receiving notifications, follow these steps:

Check App Notification Settings: Go to Settings > Apps > Facebook. Select Notifications and ensure all categories are turned on.

Ensure Background Activity is Enabled: Go to Settings > Apps > Facebook. Select Battery > Ensure it's set to Unrestricted or Optimized.

Device Settings for Notifications: Open Settings > Notifications. Ensure notifications for Facebook are enabled. Check Do Not Disturb mode to ensure it's not blocking app notifications.

Facebook App Settings: Open the Facebook app. Go to the Menu (three lines in the top right) > Settings & Privacy > Settings > Notifications. Check that all notification types are enabled.

Reinstall the App: Completely uninstall Facebook and reinstall the latest version from the Google Play Store. Avoid using APKs unless it's absolutely necessary.

The inability to scroll through multiple images might be related to how the app is handling media on your device. Try the following:

Clear Messenger Cache: Go to Settings > Apps > Messenger. Select Storage > Clear Cache.

Update or Reinstall the App: Ensure you’re running the latest version of Messenger. If reinstalling doesn’t work, test Messenger Lite, a simpler version of the app.

Test Media Behavior: Open the images in Gallery after downloading them. If scrolling works fine in the gallery, it confirms the issue is app-specific.

Since you've tried most device-specific solutions, it’s worth reporting these bugs directly to Facebook: Open the Facebook app > Menu > Help & Support > Report a Problem. Provide as much detail as possible about the issues, including screenshots if applicable.

Thank you.
