app update notifications on galaxy store and playstore apps

i'm not new to android but only have limited experience with it; i had an LG G3 before, but I stopped using after a week -- due to difficulty in finding apps and settings -- and went back to using my iphone. i now have the galaxy s23, and switching from the iphone to the galaxy s23 isn't a big deal, unlike with the LG G3 experience i had. 

what i miss from ios is its notificationa, especially for app and system updates. ios always let me know when there are updates availabel for my apps and the system, and it never failed me. 

however, i can't say the same with my galaxy s23. is it an android thing where updates aren't automatically pulled by both the galaxy store and the play store apps because i constantly have to open both of them up, several times a day, to check for updates since the apps themselves don't seem to want to do it, hence the title of this post, or is it just a samsung one ui thing?

Go to Settings > Notifications and Search for the Play Store & Galaxy Store, check to make sure that you have Notifications On for both. I get Notifications for Updates on my S20 Ultra.

i have them turned on. i also set the notifications on the playstore settings app as well, but i have not gotten a single notification from either app.

I have notifications turned on, for Play Store, in settings but do not receive notifications either.

I just checked the permission settings for the application notification are turned off. Perhaps this permission is required?

I also noticed that notifications were turned on for a few other applications that I had previously disabled. Don't know how they got enabled.

i have permissions for notification and others on, so that isn't the culprit.

you can check to see if your apps are also set to auto-update. Normally when the phone is charging and unused for a while.

i don't want it to auto update; i want the galaxy store and google play store to notify me of updates. no, my phone is only unused when i'm asleep but gets used alot during the day. i also open up both apps several times a day every day to check for app updates, so that's not the issue.

also, i already have it as auto-update apps over wifi.

anyone else got any clue how to get both apps to notify me of updates?
