AR emoji on Galaxy 8

I read on a Dutch site that we will be getting an update so we will have AR emojis on the Galaxy 8?

I haven't seen anything to suggest that it's even possible - Something to do with the different Camera? Have a look at the link below.
But I don't really see what the excitement is about... I've got both the S8+ and S9+ and while ar emoji is "cute" it's not something that I'd use 🐧

There is no 'different camera' or 'extra sensor', it uses the main front camera which is completely the same on S8 and S9.

The AR Emoji found on S9/S9+ is developed by Loom.AI, Samsung licensed it from them. And the company behind the AR Emoji said it can work with ANY front camera, so it can work even in midrange or lowrange phones not only expensive flagships. They wanted this feature to be the norm in every kind of phone. Read this article:

That being said, one of the key highlight feature of S9 is AR Emoji. While I do hope they bring it on S8, if they do then there'll be basically no reason to buy the S9 over S8 right? So ultimately I doubt Samsung wants it.

yeah, absolutely same front facing camera and S9 is missing wide angle feature like S8. Thanks for proving my point.

I was looking forward to this on my s9. TBH I can't get mine to look anything like me and it actually looks kinda creepy. Don't use this feature .
