Galaxy STo see the IMEI, I think that you would need to be Rooted.. which does not help you...because you can't Root any Canadian Samsung since the S7 phone (yes I know that SOME since then can get the Bootloader unlocked, but depends on the Build on the device, and if Eliwiggy has manged to do it for a particular model & firmware version.. and it's not free.

But, to Boot into Recovery, It's Power Off the device, wait a couple of seconds, then Press & HOLD Power + Volume UP until you feel the phone vibrate.. it will then Boot to the Recovery Menu.
