Drop down menu behavior

There was an update a few months ago that changed how the drop down menu worked. It used to be simple and quick. Now it contains notifications and swipe down twice or swiping from the right side top of screen edge gives you tools. Can we change it back because this ***. Every time theres an update, it changes the phone you bought into a completely different phone. Please stop.

Swipe down from the top > Click on the "Pencil" to edit > Click on "Panel" top Left.

Choose which action you want from the screen shot below.

One of them should give you what you want.
