So I got my S20 fe last year on November 19  and just a few weeks ago it would'nt charge at all; I tired wired and wirelessly charging it to no avail. So I contacted samsung for repairs and they got me intouch with one of the service center and was initially excited that my phone will get repaired.So I went to the service center to drop my phone and as soo as the guy removed my case( smart clear view cover) the back was bulging and apparently the battery was on a brink of exploding.He did reassure me that they will get it fixed between 2 to 4 hours,however, after a long 2 and a half hours of waiting( diagnosis), I got a call and said that my phone was unrepairable due to motherboard failure ( apparently the phone wont turn on at all). So I contacted samsung if there was any way I could get a replacement since it within is waranty.

Note that I do have a small crack on the very corner of the screen which is very minor. Ive also had that crack for just over 5 months now with no problems at all.

I got in touch with a couple of technicians over the phone and they all have been really really helpful. But sadly the upper management deemed that based on their warranty policy for physical damages, that there will be no service support.

I fully understood their policy but the battery and the motherboard issue was a completely seperate root of a problem than the screen crack itself.Like I said earlier I used the phone for more than 5 months with that little crack on the corner of the screen. I was also ready to pay the screen and battery replacement out of pocket but since the motherboard itself failed, they couldnt do anything about it.

I did purchase the phone with a 2 year contract so not even a year into owning the phone, it decided to die on me. Im actually filled with disappointment that I wasnt offered any kind of support or courtesy compensation at all.With the phone dead I have to pay over 690+ of my remaining mobile balance to reset my contract to get another phone. Ive owned multiple samsung phones, ive only had samsung phone since the era of the note 4 and ever since then till today i've never had any other brand.

@Neilbaq

Not very good advertizement for Samsung due to Samsung not standing behind their products

I feel for you but unfortunately no one here can help other than agree it is wrong.

A similar thing happened to me. I have/had a s20 5g unlocked, had occasional charging issues from the start like 100% to 0% issues but not very reproducible. I wish I had reported this early on.

Well come mid summer, the phone just died. Did the same process of battery repair and then being told the motherboard is dead. Sent it into Samsung and they wanted me to fork over another 350-400 for a new motherboard. Mind you this is about 10 months after I bought the phone, still under warranty. They claimed that I damaged a chip inside and therefore voided my warranty. They refused to tell me what chip, or how it was damaged. And they told me something like the issue is covered under warranty but the other issue is not and therefore I have to pay to fix the other issue.

I tried for weeks. Here's the kick though. I never dropped my phone, I didn't get it wet, I took quite good care, case from day one and considering it was mostly pandemic stay at home I rarely used it outside of the house. I refused to pay another 350-400 on a phone I had already paid almost $1000 for. I found a good Reddit post describing this as a common occurrence with cell phone companies. You have a warranty, but they try and find something to get out of it. I decided at that point I was no longer going to pay a premium or get another Samsung device. $300-400 for Samsung is pocket change, for a consumer that's alot. Especially since I had spent in the thousands on devices from them in the past. I ended up getting a phone from one of their competitors and am quite happy so far.

Same thing here... My phone stopped charging and was dead from one day to another. I brought it to Samsung Customer Support service, and they told me the main board was defect. Repairs: 200euros over new price of the phone.

I am very disappointed, since Samsung advertise for sustainability and easy repair possibilities. I am 2 months over Warranty, the phone is spotless, still no alternatives were suggested.

I have a Samsung since the first galaxy, and had no issues. But now I refuse to pay that amount and I am seriously thinking about buying a Sony...

It is just a shame
