I really need help.

I have a Galaxy S24, bought new in August 2024. Since the One UI 7 update, my battery life has dropped by 10–20% overall, and my phone now shuts down at 5% in under 1 minute, even with Power Saving Mode and Light Performance Mode on. There’s no background usage, just one article open in Google. This never happened before.

Here’s what I’ve already done:
  • Wiped cache partition the same day I updated
  • Disabled Bitdefender, which was using battery in the background
  • No overheating, no misbehaving apps, and the phone is only 8 months old
  • No unusual app usage—just regular apps

I contacted Samsung Support and gave them my IMEI, and they told me I need to visit a technician. But I really don’t think this is a hardware problem. Everything points to a software issue after One UI 7. I wish I never updated this phone.

Please—if anyone from Samsung is reading this, or if you have had the same issue and found a fix, I’d really appreciate help. This is a flagship phone, and this kind of battery behavior is not okay.

Hi after 1 week of the update Im having battery issues as well. My battery pre-update would go a little over 36 hours. Now I can barely get 24 hours in. Also my battery saving kicks in anywhere between 60% - 70%

I have a S24 that updated also but have not noticed any unusual battery usage since the update

Sounds like you have tried some troubleshooting steps with no help to your device

If mine I would check under battery use and see which app or apps are draining the battery and close or disable them to see if it helps

Boot into recovery and wipe the cache which it sounds like you have done but try it again

With the update it is normal to have higher battery consumption for a bit because of way more use setting it up and adjusting things for a while but should settle back near normal after a week or so and after the phone adjusts to the new operating environment.

If all else fails you should back up your device with smart switch and factory reset making sure you know your passwords to get back into your accounts

As for your phone dying shortly after 5% - the battery meter might not be reading exactly right as it is just an approximation of battery left so it might actually be lower than what is reported. You shouldn't normally run your phone down to that level anyways very often as I don't think it is great for the battery

Hi Kathrin1,

We understand how frustrating it is to deal with battery issues, on your Galaxy S24. Since you've already taken several key steps including wiping the cache and checking background usage it's clear you're doing your part to isolate the issue.

After major updates like One UI 7, some users may experience temporary battery drain due to system re-optimization and app compatibility. However, rapid shutdowns at 5% are not expected behavior and should not be ignored.

Even if everything seems fine on the surface, a technician visit is recommended to run a battery calibration check and verify if a software-level battery reporting error or rare battery cell degradation may be occurring.

We truly appreciate your patience and encourage you to back up your data and have the device evaluated as suggested.

We’ll also escalate this feedback internally so our software teams are aware of the post-update impact you’ve described.

Thank you.
