Galaxy S7 or A5 2017

Hi,

I currently have a S5 that I can upgrade to a A5 2017 for free or to a S7 for $150.

I don't play games, I surf the web and use apps such as Facebook, mail, etc.

I take lots of pictures and videos, so the camera is important (which I read the S7 is far better), but apparently the battery on the A5 lasts much longer, which is also important to me.

Which one would you recommend? The free A5 or the S7 at $150?

Honestly, I would wait, the S9 and A8 are about to be released meaning all the current phones will drop in contract prices so you'll have many more options.

I recently had a similar choice. I saw the A5 for $0 at my carrier but then saw the S7 for $119. I picked up the S7. Let me tell you that it is not a bad choice at all

Honestly, wait until the new devices release. I got my S7 0$ with no trade in or whatever during Black Friday, and the S7 is still a good purchase in 2018

Unfortunately I cannot wait as boyfriend broke his S4, so I'll give him my S5 and I'll get a new phone for me. I'm planning on getting the phone this weekend.

S7 is way way better than the A5 2017 and more worth it. I would go for the S7. The only thing better on the A5 is the USB-C, but S7 still has fast charging. Other than that, the S7 is more premium, has a better battery life, is faster, has a better screen, better cameras, more OS stability, more overall features and is more likely to get the Oreo update than the A5. The A series of Samsung are budget phones and don't have much. If you want a real true Samsung phone go for the S series. I would rather have a S6 than the A5 2017. But that's just my opinion. I have the S7 and it's amazing, smooth, and just legendary. The best phone I've ever had from Samsung so far. I have used the A5 2017 before and I dislike it.

If you're able... waiting for the A8 or S9 to arrive would be a great chance!!! If not... the S7 is still a great choice!!!

I'd recommend S7 becuase it has more features and it's going to be supported for longer in terms of software. On the other hand you can go for the A5 2017 if you are not a power user, it's also affordable and you can do all the basic stuff on it.
