Gallery search is way slower after One UI 8

After updating to One UI 8 on my S24, the Gallery search has become painfully slow. Before, I could just search “Amazon,” tap on a result, and instantly open the photo, done. Now, every time I tap on a search result, the app loads for about 3 seconds while it tries to highlight where the keyword (like Amazon) appears in the image.

During that time, you can’t scroll, you can’t tap anything, you just have to wait. It’s so frustrating when you’re trying to quickly find a specific screenshot. It also makes scrolling through the results laggy and wastes a lot of time.

There’s no way to disable this “highlighting” feature, and since Gallery is a system app, you can’t uninstall or downgrade it.

Same issue here.

Nothing was broken and in fact the gallery worked amazing up until the last update. As someone who frequently searches in his images for work it's extremely annoying when your screen freezes for a second whenever you scroll past a text based screenshot or picture.

Nothing was broken but unfortunately every company has to shove ai into everything making simple tasks unnecessarily complicated in the name of "progress".

You could try Clearing Cache for the Gallery, see if that helps?

I had a laggy scrolling issue on Samsung gallery app after the UI update and have been trying anything. Not sure if this will work for anyone else or for how long, but I disabled "full screen scrolling" in the gallery app settings and it seems to have fixed the laggy scrolling I was experiencing. YMMV.
