Getting a unlocked phone in canada makes no sense

I purchased a new unlocked s23 ultra from bestbuy paying the full price...

My BYOD Sim is Rogers...

The real frustration starts here....as soon as I switch on the phone for setup it won't allow me to setup until I insert Sim..

Later after setting up the phone I do see Rogers and Amazon shopping app installed on my phone...unfortunately I can't even unistall...only option I have is disable the apps..

I tried with an international Sim to check if its the same....No I don't get to see any boaltware or apps installed on my phone...and I no longer see the rogers app...

Again inserting rogers Sim the boaltware is back with the 2 apps again installed and unable to uninstall...

It's so disappointing and scary on a carrier doing this without users concern to choose his/her likes on an unlocked phone...

Curious to know if am all alone here or any experiences..

Canada banned carriers from selling locked phones in order to abolish 😃 the exorbitant fees they charged their customers who wanted to switch providers 🫤 This is the main advantage of having unlocked phones.

Yeah... unfortunately, carriers here force the installation of their apps and it is considered system apps. I'm guessing you could probably uninstall them via ADB but I agree that it's a fuss for nothing.

I'm with telus and I am forced to have the Mobile Klinik app on my phone. I don't need it and don't want it 😑

Would you rather have phones that a Locked to a Carrier?

Carrier Locked phones are what actually makes no sense. 

Being able to switch Carriers, without having to pay a Unlock fee, or some grey market ***, makes a lot of sense.

Samsung's Censor Bot, needs to learn English, and that the word "ha*ck" is not a swear word... 🙄

same here.no big dear,just disable all you do not use. Canadian model is way better than international model.
