Hey guys,
When I'm using my phone camera and storing the photos as HEIF, I can see that's its stored and viewable correctly within the gallery app as expected. However if I use any app and use its internal way to send pictures (such as WhatsApp), the picture orientation will be incorrect.
I've seen many others complaining about this issue, does Samsung have any plans to fix this? I don't want to revert back to JPG because I do want to save space on my phone.

Hi sikhness, Could you please let us know the model number of your Samsung device. Please share the screenshot of the error message so that we can review it.

Hi Keagan,
I have the Samsung Galaxy S10, there is no error message. It's just when you try to share an HEIF picture, it'll be rotated.

Hi, Please note that the application should be compatible with the HEIF media file format in order to send or use it.

The application is compatible. The problem seems to be that any external application that's using Android APIs to read the file seems to be reading the rotation metadata incorrectly for some reason.

Hi, As this is an issue only with the orientation and not occurring within the Gallery application, this might be an issue with the app provider. I suggest you to follow the steps from the below link to generate the error report from the Samsung Members app so that our team can review the Log Files.

In step 5, please select the "Application" category.

In step 6, Please check "send the system log data". Here is the link: https://www.samsung.com/ca/support/mobile-devices/samsung-members-how-to-submit-an-error-report/
