As the title says I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the thin gray bar at the bottom. I tried contacting customer support and they told me that it's mandatory if you use the gesture feature versus the taskbar with the buttons. I don't believe that's true. Why would Samsung do this?

I see. That is swipe gesture. If you use button, the bar won't be there. I don't think you can remove that bar since it is for swipe gesture.

Try this:

I install Goodlock and NaviStar

Open Good Lock -> NavStar -> Turn on "Enable extra gesture settings" -> Exit NavStar

Then
Go to Settings -> Display -> Navigation Bar -> More options -> Turn off "Gesture hint"

The bar should gone.
