How to make app notifications show up as a badge

For example. Reddit. those notifications just make the phone vibrate and the icon just shows up in the notification bar. I want the notifications to show up as a badge just like text messages do which also triggers the edge lighting. Any ideas?

@Brando, make sure the option is enabled in your phone settings for Reddit, but please note that not all apps will show a notification badge. The only other option would be to use a 3rd party launcher.

As @Cprice said this also applies to the Edge Lighting notifications - Not all apps will trigger the Edge Lighting feature. Settings - Edge Lighting - Manage Notifications.

@Brando if you press and hold on the samsung launcher click home screen settings and turn on app icon badges. it should turn icon badges for all apps with a notification.
