I updated to Oreo yesterday and since then noticed that my text message icon doesn't show me any notifications. I've restarted the launcher and the phone, checked settings. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

@SammyUserInTO, mine is still showing the notification badge after updating to Oreo, make sure that the badge option is enabled, if it is, then I would suggest going into Settings>Apps and clearing the cache for the messaging app and then rebooting.

Thanks for your suggestions, unfortunately even after confirming the options and clearing the cache the issue persists. 🤔

Hey @SammyUserInTO, could you please try soft-rebooting your device? Thanks!

Hey @Wonchul, thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately even after a soft-reboot the issue persists.

@SammyUserInTO, another thing you can try, (I don't know why I didn't mention it before) I had the same issue with Whatsapp not showing the badge count, I looked in the app drawer and Whatsapp was showing the message count, so I removed the shortcut from the home screen and then re-added it and that fixed it. So remove the message shortcut from your home screen and then re-add it by dragging it from the app drawer, hopefully that will fix it for you.

Hey Cprice, I tried that and still nothing. This is odd.

@SammyUserInTO, the only other thing I can think of trying if you haven't already.

1- Remove Message shortcut from home screen
2- Go into settings and turn off badge count for Messages
3- Clear cache for Messages
4- Turn your phone off, reboot into recovery and wipe cach
5- After reboot, turn badge count back on
6- if possible have someone send you a text and check if the badge count appears on the Message app in the App Drawer
7- If it does appear, put Messages shortcut back on your home screen
8- If not, I'm all out of ideas except for a Factory Reset
