I'm fed up with the gallery app. I used to be able to use Google Photos directly with apps such as Instagram and so on. Why can't I set Google Photos as my default gallery app for my phone? I don't want to have to go through this issue. All of my photos are on Google Photos. The gallery app is terrible, and OneDrive is even worse. Why can't I have the option to set Google Photos as my default gallery app? If there is a way, please let me know.

Foe me, it's quite the opposite.

But to answer your question. Ensure Gallery is closed not running in background nor in a connected state as a service from another app.

Main Settings, Apps, Default Apps. Opening Links. There you can select Google Photos and set as default. Then. Check Gallery and disable Gallery yet 1st ensure it's default setting shows another app.

Thank you, but it still doesn't work. After I go to opening links and select Google Photos, there is no option that you are referring to. Please see the attached photo.1723677602636_1723677602627_0.jpg

Hello, this still doesn't work. I don't see an option for default apps related to photos. Please see attached picture.1723730315555_1723730315548_0.jpg

No, it doesn't work. I think the only option you have is to disable the Gallery app (which requires a couple of changes).

@Helenna Did you bother to check that what you're directing the OP to do is valid?
