Hi Guys,
I am using galaxy S24.
Since I my images and video files consuming large amount of space, I move two video files to external storage. But after moving those files, All related images also disappeared form internal storage. I checked on Trash bin, unfortunately nothing on there. Do you guys have similar experiences?

Sounds like you inadvertently moved everything to external storage?

Are the other images / files where you moved the videos to?

If you used a file explorer, and selected only the videos, that's all that should have been moved, but if you selected the folder where the videos & other images were stored, that would explain what happened m

I used file Explorer and moved only targeted video files. but after moving, all image files I taken on the same day with the video files were gone.

You did something wrong.. I know that sometimes when you highlight a couple of files to move/copy/delete, occasionally all of the files get highlighted, don't know if it's static electricity or something, but it has happened to me, but fortunately I noticed before I completed the action.

For it to have been anything else, just doesn't make sense.. to me at least.

I don't believe so @RedDogRabbit. There was no mistake during my file moving. I am suspicious it is a glitch of Samsung file explorer or Android system.

You stated you used File Explorer - a 3rd party app, not My Files - a native Samsung app (Yellow icon).

Note: Google also has a file management app called My Files (blue icon) which from time to time shows up when either downloading / uploading files here and there that I've notice but I cannot repeatedly duplicate invoking the Google version.

Can you confirm using 3rd party app or Samsungs native file manager?

Also can you use the same file manager you used eith connected external storage to see your media and CAREFULLY restore what you wanted?

I actually use a couple of 3rd party file Explorers, Root Explorer & Solid Explorer.

I really don't think that it's an issue with the OS, or even Samsung's File Explorer.

I move images & videos daily from & to my S23 Ultra, and in all the years I've been using Samsung devices, I've never lost any images or videos.. that more than 12 years.

It's possible that there was a momentary glitch, but I've never experienced one.

It certainly wouldn't be something that I would switch devices over..

Is it possible that the videos were moved to a hidden Folder somewhere?

@RedDogEabbit I didn't experience so far until S24. actually I have two experiences with S24. first experience happened with flash disk. but the reason why I didn't mentioned my first bad experience, I used unbranded USB flash disk. that time I lost most of video and image files..but this time I used sandisk's miscroSD. but finally I lost almost of them. all images and video files are super important my memories on my life. if my family know that facts, I gonna die. anyway I believe Samsung and Google both are one of giant IT company in the world. so they might have a good process. but except that cause, it can't explain why my images and video files were gone.

I am sorry to hear that you lost these important memories.

If I understand you correctly, you are using a SanDisk Micro sd card to store images from your S24.. so are you using a micro sd card adaptor from the Type C USB port on the S24?

That doesn't sound like the best way to do it.

I use a Samsung USB OTG storage device myself. There's many good quality and reliable OTG storage devices, I just happen to be using Samsung's.

I know that there's some Recovery software available, but I have no idea if any are any good, or just a waste of time and money?

But you could look into it?

Good luck 🤞🏻
