I repeat again: No optical zoom on S20/20+!

There is no optical zoom on both these devices. Not 3x, not 5x and certainly not 30x Space Zoom. They advertise "hybrid optic zoom", which is technically and blatant false advertising. The "zoom" lens is just a 1.06x true optical zoom! And the rest is a sensor crop. So yeah, previous gen S10/N10 and older will give you actually better zoom than these phones. The S20 Ultra has 4x optical zoom. To go to 10x, the same sensor crop trickery is employed.

And another reminder that the 30x/100x space zoom marketing gimmick is false. It's not a zoom, it's a very lossy crop.

Yes I am very touchy about bold, borderline false claims and actual false representation. I hate being fooled and I hate letting others being fooled too.

If you still want to buy them for the other things they offer, then you may go ahead. I just don't want anyone to commit to such a big expense (the most expensive they ever released in Canada) based solely on a lie.

Yes I meant the S20 and S20+. The S20 Ultra is the only S20 series model which has actual optical zoom, but the hybrid optical zoom is still clearly misleading

Technically, they didn't say it was an optical zoom, they call it an OPTIC zoom  (minus the "AL" at the end).     False advertising, not really... though they do borderline the truth.  Clever word-play is what it really is.  You can still zoom into a digital photo ... they use clever software tricks to sharpen and zoom in.

They are purposefully and willingly marketing it as such. To me, it's false advertising. Being borderline is just being an even worse deceiver.

I hope someone sue them and sends a clear message to everyone that this is unacceptable

I just read this about the S20 Ultra : Technically, that should result in brighter shots with less noise, but whether it's due to Samsung's algorithms or something else in the processing, the images just aren't very crisp no matter what resolution you're shooting at. Ultimately, the S20 Ultra's pictures are a minor improvement, at best, over the S10's.
