Initial transfer from old phone did not bring SMS over

I used the on board Simple swap feature

It brought SMS from 2018 to last December but nothing after that

Any ideas how I can get my SMS messages

Try use Samsung SmartSwitch. It copied my data completely.

Yup. Smart Switch works!

In theory though, if it's the same SIM card, Once you insert it, it might populate your SMS history on the new phone. 

I'm not 100% if it's the same thing, but I suspect that it is. I've done Factory Resets, but of course have a Smart Switch backup, but I've also Cleared Cache & Data for Google Messages, which I THINK might be similar to a Factory Reset, but just for the app. In any event, my SMS / MMS are repopulated on my device.
