Instagram/WhatsApp images auto-download issue

Whenever I upload photos to Instagram, the photos are automatically saved in the Instagram folder in the Samsung Gallery app. In fact, this problem persists even though the Instagram app has been set not to save automatically every time a post is made.

Also, the same problem occurs not only when Instagram but also when using Whatsapp or Facebook app. 

I am using Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Hi Applebiter, please check the Gallery settings:

Open the Samsung Gallery app > Go to settings > Look for any options related to syncing or automatic saving of photos and adjust accordingly.

Please Clear cache and data for the apps:

Navigate to app and find Instagram > Tap on storage and then select Clear Cache and Clear Data. This might help to resolve issue with the app.

I followed your guide, but the folder is still created and the posted photos are still shown.

Check the settings within the whatsapp and intsgram app themselves's because I now for sure whatsapp has an option to auto-download received pics and videos. Check the same for instagram as well
