Galaxy S7 has been doing just fine. But this morning, the 4 digit pin doesn't work to unlock the phone or to change security settings! After entering the pin number to unlock the phone, the screen goes black for a couple seconds, then returns to the lock screen. When using the pin to access my security settings, a pop-up window comes up saying that settings stopped working. I did all the maintenance things, including checking security, but no problems were found. Any ideas on how to fix this? I can still use my thumb print to unlock the phone, but it's my daughters phone and she can't carry my thumb around with her!! 🤪 I'm nervous to turn the phone off and on again, because on my S10, it will often require the pin rather than a thumbprint to unlock the phone after a restart.
Hi, we suggest you to perform factory reset and then setup the lock screen pin again as it is the only option to fix the issue.

I have this problem, my pin is no longer recognised, can't turn phone off without entering the pin, can't restart without entering the pin. My pin is 100% correct. I am not able to do anything at all without entering the pin!
Not sure if I have used that function with this phone. I'll look into that. Even if I haven't done it before, I can at least know that there's another option for unlocking a phone in the future. Thanks.
