Messages settings won't change the sound for incoming messages

Search "messages settings" go to notifications, notifications categories, hit "incoming messages" and change the sound. This doesn't work for me, anyone else? Am I missing something?

Google Messages, or Samsung Messages? 

If you're using Samsung's Messages, switch to Google Messages. 

Also, are you trying to change the Default Notification sound for all messages, or unique Notification sound for individual contacts?

I use Google messages. Trying to change the sound for all messages not individual people.

Have you set up any Custom Notifications for any of your Contacts?
