I am trying to control what apps show a pop-up.

I have a few of the apps deselected (like Snapchat for instance, see SS)

Yet I still continue to receive the pop-up. (See SS)

Could this be because I use Nova launcher?

Hi, just to confirm have you followed this path only to turn off the notification -

Open your phone's Settings app.

Tap Notifications.

App settings.

Under "Most recent," find apps that recently sent you notifications.

To find more apps, in the dropdown menu, tap All apps.

Tap the app.

Turn the app's notifications on or off.

No, it's not because you are using Nova Launcher, I use it as well (Nova Beta V8.0.3).

Disable Snapchat where you have, should work, but go to Snapchat's Settings & turn off the Notification there as well.

There's also another app called "AutoNotification" from the Play Store, which allows a more detailed level of controlling notifications.

I do still want a notification, just the icon however, not a pop-up

Okay, try this.

Go to Settings > Notifications & Snapchat, look for "categories" & click on that. Find the Snapchat Notification that you DON'T want to see a popup notification for & see if it gives you the option to Toggle Off the popup for it.

I don't see that option.

I have notification categories when selecting the app

But nothing that allows me to toggle the pop-up.

This is a s10e on Android 12 btw Screenshot_20230125-170643_Settings.jpg1674691708757.jpg

I don't use Snapchat, so you'll have to click on the Notification Categories in your 2nd screen shot, there is where you should find the option to disable popups.
