Only 2 major updates?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows why Samsung only does 2 major updates per model? They're already making the software, why not let us use it? Is it some greedy marketing technique, or is there something I'm missing? I have an s8+ and was looking forward to the screen recording feature.

Samsung just announced that it will be 3 major updates now but only for flagships from 2019 and newer like the S10 series and Note 10 series , Note 20..

2019* and newer. Unfortunately only flagship devices that launched with Android 9.0 or higher are eligible.
