What device, and what Update, Security Patch or Android Version Update?

Regardless, after 15 minutes, never mind 13 hours, obviously something has gone wrong.

It's possible that it is an incomplete, or corrupted download (quite unlikely, but possible).

At this point, you don't have a usable device, so you can Power Off the device, or Force Reboot (Press & HOLD Power + Volume DOWN) until the phone vibrates & It should either Reboot normally, or Boot into Samsung's Recovery.

If it was my device, I'd possibly try "Wipe Cache", but you may see that the only option is to:

  • Boot into Safe Mode
  • Backup your Data
  • Wipe Data.

I would select Backup obviously, IF it's an option.

Then depending on what / IF you see an error message, I'd Factory Reset.

If the device fails to Boot up to the Welcome Screen, then either:

  • Flash the CORRECT Firmware with Odin.
  • Visit a Samsung Service Centre to get it checked out by a tech.

I believe this and all the other issues that have become so pervasive with Samsung lie with their inability to guide consumers on the nuances of software updates.  It's a known fact they keep screwing up on Android releases and have been for the last few years.

The number of devices that get hosed is nothing less than amarming.

Someone on the Android OS side in Suwon Shi KR Corporate should be jettisoned and replaced.  There's something amiss.

First things first, you should have backed up your data before updating from Android 12 to 13.

Secondly, I dont think there is any other way to fix it, other than doing factory reset.

In case if you do decide to factory reset, just clean install the OS by flashing the CSC file, it will make sure nothing is left over, that will cause issues again.

Flashing the CSC isn't Flashing the Firmware with "a clean install". CSC = Carrier Specific Code / County Specific Code. It does NOT install the OS!

Flashing the CSC vs Home_CSC will FORCE a Factory Reset anyway.

Hi I just had this problem and you might be in the same boat as me...

when the software update automatically started (since I didn't hit "remind me later" in time) my phone was in Power Save mode. when I took it off of power save using the pull down menu, it loaded successfully. I know it's late, but I hope this helps you or someone. HNY
