So, this has been happening for 4+ years now and I'm at the tipping point.
My phone doesn't always ring when getting a call. Straight to voicemail!
It's happened numerous times on both my s22 ultra and again on my s24 ultra.
Just yesterday, with my phone sitting next to me, I get a missed call and voicemail notification. No sound or vibration what so ever. Again, I double check my settings. Volume on, vibration on. DnD off. No routines running. No Bluetooth connections. I asked my daughter to call me within about 5 minutes, and this time it rings, so I don't believe it's a setting. I have full bars from my carrier and the number, the missed one, is not in my contacts, nor my blocked numbers.
I just can't figure it out, and I'm pulling my hair out.
I'm finally getting around to this post because my 80+ yo father just bought a Pixel because he's experiencing the same thing, but he's missing calls from his doctor.
Google has not helped, so I'm turning to the community for guidance.
I've also reset my network settings, and have only an esim enabled, if that helps narrow things down further.
Thank you.

Contact your Carrier.. If it rings sometimes, and goes straight to your voicemail other times, that sounds like a Carrier issue.

I had wondered that also, but I have switched carriers multiple times during the years.
I'll reach out regardless. Although I don't know if they'll be a position to actually fix it if they're indeed responsible.
Thank you.

I had this problem in the past too. The worst part was that callers may not leave a voicemail,, in which case, you may re eive no indication of any missed call. As @Makthai420 said, this may be a carrier issue. Can I ask, do you have VoLTE activated and are in an area where the carrier still uses 3G (For example, 🇨🇦)

Your icons at the top will show a network type and one signal meter (assuming you don't have multiple SIMs) What isn't obvious is that the network type typically (there may be exceptions) relates to your DATA connection while the strength relates to your voice connection. What this means is you could have full strength showing, but have a very weak data signal. I dont know enough about how network carriers direct the call except to say your phone periodically authenticates itself and will flip between channels and signal types as the available signal strengths available to you change. My best guess is, that a call comes in and either the carrier or your phone tries to put it through voLTE (or voWIFI) but your phone has an insufficient data connection. The network reads this as unavailable and sends the call to vmail.

I can only say that when i deactivated VoLTE, i didn't notice any more instances of missing calls. I reactivated it and then had instances of missed calls.

The one knowledgeable carrier tech support person i was able to speak with noted that this was most often a problem with phones that were brought from other regions or had flashed out of region custom ROMs. Some carriers explicitly state that VoLTE is only on their network approved phones.

So, by turning off VoLTE, my phone no longer tried to route calls through the data connection, and i stopped having the missed call problem (as far as I knew) The unfortunate thing though is that you are giving up the VoLTE functionality in doing this and if you travel to an area that no longer has 3G coverage, you will really limit your roaming compatibility.

Good luck

VoLTE is automatically enabled, and no longer has an Icon.

VoLTE has been enabled by default for a few years now.. I'm not 100% sure when it changed, maybe back when the S20 series was released.

I remember having to use adb to enable the VoLTE QS Tile, but it's been a few years since VoLTE was even an option in Settings > Connections..

So you can't actually turn VoLTE off, unless maybe if switch to GSM/HSPA

I'm with Roger's, and I have sg21s. This has been happening on a regular basis!!! I just finally got to access my voicemail after 2 1/2 years of not being able to and going to Roger's as well as calling on a regular basis my voicemail. Is once again functioning after 21/2 years o if not. I had to threaten with court as I am battling cancer and extremely ill. I have missed several urgent appointments as well as calls due to this. I'm thinking it's definitely a carrier issue, not a phone issue..

Hi Makthai420,

We can understand how frustrating this issue must be, especially when you're missing important calls like from your doctor or family.

Even though you've switched carriers, there could still be something lingering with your account, or perhaps some network-related configurations that are causing the issue. It’s definitely worth reaching out to see if they can provide more insight or perform any checks that might not be immediately obvious.

Thank you.
