Using Galaxy S20 5G

Not sure if this is a bug or a problem or what, but I have noticed that the uptime on my phone (Settings > About > Status Information) does not reset after a scheduled auto restart, but does on a normal manual restart. I have checked under Care report and it does state the auto restart happened as scheduled.

Did the auto restart actually happen and the uptime doesn't reset by design? Is it not considered a "proper" restart?

Probably. Maybe Moderators can forward this bug to the team that they can fix the problem? At least the phone does restart, just the uptime not reset. 🙂

Hi Rick_McFish, Please note that when the auto restart is enabled, the device will only restart if the device is not being used, the screen should be off and the battery is sufficiently charged and the SIM card lock is off.

Hi Rick_McFish, I am thinking if you could do a test to see if it does the restart or not.

Try set an auto restart timer for 1 minute. Then monitor your phone and see if it restart. Please resport back. Thank you.

Hi Tallman, I have just managed to test it and saw the phone restart, which all seemed normal. The device care report does confirm the "last auto restart" too.

However the "uptime" hasn't been reset. Maybe it's a bug?

I've reported this problem, months and months ago. I have a Note 10+ and it's doing the same thing. The phone restarts, but it isn't a full restart. As you say, the uptime doesn't reset. That's one sign that it's not doing a full restart. Another sign that it is not doing a full restart is, after you enter your PIN, there's no message that says, "Phone is restarting, " and then if you have OneHand Operation+ installed, you'll see a message saying, "OneHand Operation+ is starting." None of that happens when the phone does the auto restart. When auto restart was working, it did do all that. Go ahead and manually restart your phone, you'll see those restart messages after you enter your PIN. But you won't get them with auto restart. I also have friends with a S10+ and a Note 20 Ultra. They both have the same problem. Hopefully this is fixed when I get my Android 11 update.
