What is project treble? I have never heard of this before. Does it have something to do with the sound quality when playing music or watching videos?

I just read the article about project treble. I don't know if Samsung will support this project. Just to be on the safe side, I would not go messing around with this project or you may screw up the current operating system. Just leave the updating to the Google and Android operating systems.

I sure hope so. But whatever happends, updates always take longer to reach us, poor Canadians. But I assume it's the carrier's fault since the OTAs always get released for everyone at the same time, and my Tab A was the first to get Nougat/UX8.5 (Thanks Samsung for this, 200$ tablet getting 2 upgrades like 600$ flagship Tab S2) while other countries don't have it.
For those that don't understand Project Treble:
Treble allows the OEM (Samsung for instance) and the components makers (Qualamecomm for instance, but there are much more involved in ONE device) to make a single implementation, including drivers, to be ever made and this single implementation is used for future OS upgrades.
This is new for Android O and will allow for longer support periods and faster updates.
Before, you needed drivers for each Android version. And unfortunately, some companies did not provide them or offered them at all (Qualcomm, MediaTek and most chips used for cheap Asian phones). Others took ages to make them available. Some, well, went out of business or gave up the mobile market (TI)
However, some OEM modify their Android version and remove Treble support (OnePlus) for no good reason. Also, the components makers must participate into building the single implementation, and some may say NO as drivers overcharging is their business model (MT)
