HELLO GOOD AFTERNOON!
WHY IS IT THAT THE "CLOSE ALL" BUTTON ON THE MULTI TASK SCREEN IS SO PROMINENT AND IN THE CENTER OF THE SCREEN??

This is a MAJOR design flaw as a person could EASILY accidentally press it by even the palm of their hands. The same provisions taken to prevent accidentally answering or rejecting a phone call MUST be taken to prevent accidentally pressing the "Close All" button! I've written several times regarding this and the first time I got a generic irrelevant answer. PLEASE someone read this and do what is necessary to address this issue.
What do people mainly do on phones?
They "use apps". So how could their be a button that could potentially accidentally cross ALL apps!

I'm by no means an expert at designing phone interfaces, but here are my suggestions:

Option i.
Add a thing that the user has to slide just as when answering a phone call.

Option ii.
Make the button less prominent or centrally located

Option iii.
HIDE THE BUTTON WITHIN A NESTED MENU even in Settings --> Apps --> Close All Open Apps
and remove it from the multitasking screen entirely.

You have done EXCELLENT work on every other aspect of the phone and I know that little things like this can be easily overlooked on such big project. This is why I'm actually taking time out of my busy day to bring this to your attention.

PS:
and consider the following scenario: a person has 20 IMPORTANT windows open, most having entered data. Then they are holding there phone so that the left thumb is at the bottom left of the screen, as the right thumb is tapping on the content of the screen the left thumb accidentally slides to press the 3 bars opening the multitasking screen, then the right thumb which was in the act of pressing presses instead the "Close All" button and closes everything, INCLUDING the app you were currently working on. This ACTUALLY HAPPENED.

This is a major design flaw!

This problem has annoyed me sooooo much that my next phone will NOT be a Samsung!

I agree, there is no need for that button at all!  It's a bloody nuisance.  Sadly the original post was made in 2021 and it's still not fixed in 23

It could be a conspiracy as someone mentioned, for us not to spend too much time on our apps and go out and visit a park. CEOs, and Engineers sometimes add these little things to their products for something they believe is good or humorous.

Also practically, it increases the likelihood that the apps will get closed over the life of the phone instead of having 30 apps open for years, as the average user never scrolls back past the first 5 apps on the multi-task screen.

Yeah it's been 2 years and I enjoyed this conversation. I have a list of unnecessary tech issues that I will publish soon, there is a Samsung section : p

I have a Samsung s22 and accidentally hitting the "Close All" button happened to me about 3 times this week.  I was encouraged to see others with the same problem.  Even if it were at the top of the screen it would be better but I like the option of "Are you sure" with No being the default or doing away with it all together.

It is nice to clear out your phone when you have too many apps open but there should be a more secure way to do this.

"**bleep** it!!!  It happened again!!!"  will continue to be my reaction until this gets fixed.

I can't agree more. I already wasted hours of vid editing work on app and mobile game grinding thank to this.

Click / Swipe to show Recents & Click the Icon for the app you want to keep open / locked & Click on "Keep Open", but you can only have 3 apps locked open.

Absolutely agree!!!!

This sodding "Close all" button absolutely needs to be modified so that it can be given an "are you sure" option, moved, or better still removed altogether!

This is especially important now that you can only lock one app in the " recent apps" screen which is a totally backwards step from my old Android phone where I could lock any number of apps I chose to keep open.Grrrr!!!!

This is bloody infuriating!!!!!
