So this happened ....end of September.... wasn't dropped....is in a case that protected the phone ..I put the phone down for 1 min standing up ...in my line of sight....no one had access to it.... I picked up the phone ....looked down and there was hairlines over the glass over the camera ...i..touched it to see what was wrong...it went out more from there....it looked like it got shot ....shattered over one point then out from there ...had to rush to put some tape over it so glasd won't go inside ....went online to forums and read it's been happening alot more often with the colder weather..... its a manufacturers defect ...went to the samsung store ....they want $400+ to fix..... samsung ....explain! ....I want my phone fixed ..you know its a defect ...it should be recalled or at least fix it if it happens within reason

This reminds me of the S7 home button. And the coating chipping off after only a year. And being told it's not covered because it's from regular wear and tear..... Mmm hmmm the most commonly used button, and it's regular wear and tear. Samsung is by far the worst for warranty not just for phones, but anything they sell.

The same thing happened to me, no trauma, phone was in my pocket, opened box on Dec 20 and glass was broken by Dec 23, in case, not dropped once.  Will Samsung pay for this?

it's a design flaw of the device. because it's such a large single piece of glass it's more prone to cracking.
