Trying to use Dolby Atmos though wired headphones, but it looks like it doesn't have any effects on the headphones sound.

Using Spotify, a USB C to AUX cable, and Skull Candy headsets.

Any way to trouble shoot this, or are their USB C to AUX adapter that work better? Sound quality seems worse than my previous S8+ which used the same headphone, but directly plugged into the Aux port.

A DAC is a piece of hardware that converts digital signals to analog signals (Digital Analog Converter). It is necessary to convey audio from a device to headphones. New Samsung phones do not possess an integrated DAC (because the 3.5mm jack is gone, yay...), which is why you need so-called "active" USB-C to 3.5mm adapters. But this creates a new problem where you must pick a quality adapter, otherwise your audio will be poorly processed.

Samsung has one. Check the link Halston has posted. But if you want top-of-the-line DACs, Audioquest Dragonfly. It has a price though... and it stings badly. But that's as good as it gets.

I got a BT amp that converts wired set to wireless. You just attach to BT receiver and pair with phone. This is the one I have FiiO BTR1K:

Works as a DAC as well when connected to the Note 10+ with USB-c/c cable (not included). I also have the BTR3, however, it does not work when wire connected to phone. But it does offers LDAC format.

i had no idea either one existed. i was just planning to have it completely wired. no Bluetooth no other wireless. i plan to attach the usb to usb c attachment that Samsung provided. to the dragon fly thing ChMultimedia mentioned maybe that will work.

It basically offers the disadvantages of Bluetooth in a clunkier package
