S21 5G text message icon shows multiple messages when only one is actually there

Hi Finske, are you referring to app icon badges or unread count?

Unread count on the badge. It consistently shows one more new message than I actually see when I open SMS

Hi, please open SMS app and scroll down to old messages and check if there is any one unread message.

I have the same issue, however I have no unopened messages! There used to be a junk folder on my old phone where messages would go for unknown numbers. Help!
