Galaxy SYou can also go to Account backup -> backup data. Select Messages to backup. Then you can restore the messages if needed from backup date.
But I don't see Archive option for messages.

Galaxy SSwitch to Google Messages (Samsung's Moderators are also recommending that you do).
You can easily archive your texts with Google Messages.

Galaxy SHi, we recommend to use Google Messages instead of preloaded Samsung Messages App.
Download from Google Play store: Google Messages and set as default. So that, it will be easy for you to archive your texts using Google Messages.
