On my note 9 I was able to set different notification sounds for different individuals in text messaging. For example, I had one sound set for my coworkers, one set for family, one for friends, etc. On the s22 I set it up the same way but as I'm getting texts today I noticed I've been hearing just the default text notification sound. I went back into the settings for the individuals I had set notification sounds for and all sound settings I had set have been deleted. I tried resetting it but they keep getting deleted. Is there a bug with this or maybe a certain setting I have on that I need to turn off?

I have a S22 and have no problems setting special notification sounds for different people so don't think it can be a bug. At least isn't on mine anyways

Are you setting the sound by going to your text messaging app, picking the person you want the sound for, then 3 dots top right, then choose notification sound and pick your sound from there.

I have tired that. I am able to set the customized text notification.

However, when i delete the conversation, the text tone goes back to default.

That is what would happen because you are basically deleting the person from your texting application
Instead of deleting the whole conversation delete all but one text and then you should keep custom notification sounds

Hi, I suggest you to perform Wipe Cache Partition and write back to us if the issue still persists. Please try performing the wipe cache partition by following the instruction below and check if the issue got resolved. Turn off the device. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Power key. When the Android logo displays, release both keys. An 'Installing system update' message may show briefly before the Android Recovery menu options appear. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight "Wipe cache partition". Press Power key to select. Press the Volume down key to highlight Yes, then press the Power key to select. When the process is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted. Press the Power key to restart the device.

I am more trouble individualizing my notifications.  Such as one app get one notifiction sound, and a different app get a different sound.  Everytime I change one in one app it changes them all. What can i do change this?  It is real frustrating.

Are you referring to SMS app or different App? I'm sure WhatsApp, Telegram, etc can have their own Notification Sound settings. If you're referring  to SMS app. Give a try the below steps :

Go to Google Messages App > 3dots (top right corner) > Settings > Notifications > Notification Categories > Incoming Messages > Sound.

Hope this helps :)

One thing that was a BIG surprise is often what LOOKS like just a switch to turn notifications on or off, when you tap on the LABEL for the switch, you get another menu where you can change the details of that notification - there's not a gear symbol for settings or a link to "options" or something I have come to expect from every other PDA or phone UI of the last 20 years.

Ever since the last update in early April 2023, my S21+ has been erasing my custom set text notification sounds. Called Samsung did a soft reboot; no help.  By the time I set a few, the last ones I've set have already disappeared. Help please!
