Galaxy SHello
I recently upgraded two phone, both my and my wife's to Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and after few weeks of using them, and now after few days (sometimes few hours) of using the phone it disconnects installed 256Gb Sundisk SD card. Happening on the both phones. One has brand new card and one 1 year old card. So I have to reboot the phones or reinsert the card to fix the issue. I called samsung support and they said that they never heard about it. I have two of Galaxy S20 FE (my and my wife's) and both have same issues. My have more often than my wife's. It could be some app I installed on both phones that doing it ? How can I check and figure out what costing it without resetting the phone to factory settings ? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

Galaxy SHello
This issue is random and happens usually once a day or so. If I insert SD card without sim I can not use my phone until this issue will happen that could be more than a day ? Also I re-inserted it today already after I copied all the data to computer. I made sure that it clean and sits in the tray properly. I believe if it is not sit there properly I can not insert the tray. Also I inserted the tray gently and properly as well. I'll monitor for few days and let you know (but I did that before as well when I had issue and it always inserted in the tray properly and tray was inserted properly as well to the phone.
Another question, if it is issue with the tray how can I replace it (without formatting the phone) ? I got the phone in Costco on black friday so it is under warranty.
Thanks
Paul

Galaxy SHi, I suggest you get the device examined by the authorized technician to know the root cause of the issue. Please note that due to Government COVID regulations, most of the service centers would be operating with curbside pick up/drop off or non-functional depending on the locality. Please contact the live chat by using the link below and they help you set up the service.

Galaxy SHello, For how long I need to leave my phone and do they give the replacement as I need my phone all the time for work. Also as Expert suggested below can they just replace the tray on the spot as it could be a tray issue ??

Galaxy SIt is definitely something wrong with the tray. today it disconnected SIM card (while SD card was connected) I suddenly lost network / phone service and phone said that I have no providers, while the tray was inside the phone with both SIM and SD card. Please advise how to replace tray only without a lot of wait time being without the phone as well as without reseting the phone

Galaxy SHello
I have suspicion that this issue not isolated to single phone like my. The same issue started to happen more and more often on my wifes phone. It is same phone like my but different color. We picked up both phone in the same store. Please advise as I no longer believe that this issue is unique to one phone only but more as general bug issue

Galaxy SHi ppaskova, As the device needs to be examined physically, we can't speculate the exact cause for this issue. I suggest you please get the device examined to know the root cause of the issue as mentioned by me earlier.

Galaxy Shello. expert here. if it works for days then it means card gets unseated somehow. please be more gentle while handling device or get replacement tray. you can go to service centre to ask replacement under warranty.

Galaxy SHello
It may work for a day or few days depending on situation. I'm very gentle with the phone. It is in otterbox case. I never drop it. The only time it get shaken a little when I play a pokemon go game on it. I had Galaxy S9 before and never had that issue with it , and I used it more actively than this phone. Also what I do not understand is if card gets unseated somehow, when I reboot the phone (without shaking it or removing and reinserting the card) it detects it until it disconnects it in a day or so ?How can I replace the tray only ? I do not want to leave my phone for days / weeks and be without the phone for just replacing the tray, Please advise if this could be done in a day or so ?
Thanks, Paul

Galaxy SHello
Update 2. Same thing started to happen with my wifes phone. It disconnected SD card 3 times in past week without any messages. We both have Galaxy S20 FE but different colors. I have Blue and she has white. Since in general she is less gentle with her phone than me her phone is special military rouge aluminium and metal very heavy case. But she told me that she never dropped her phone in past two months she has it. I have now hard time to believe that two different phones have same defect with the trays ? Is this possible ? I also noticed that since Galaxy S9 the phone has changed and it does not have "home" button on "Always on display" black screen. Instead one has to double tap on the screen to get to password / lock screen. Can double tapping cost issues with disconnecting cards due to new tray design vs old Galaxy S9 tray design ?
