Lately when I've been using Samsung Internet, my search history doesn't show up when I click the search bar. I didn't clear any sort of cache or data or change my internet setting prior to this happening.
This has been going on for at least a month. My phone is updated to the lated version (android 12) and so is my Samsung Internet (18.0.0.58). I've tried restating my phone, clearing cache, deleting storage, but nothing's worked.
This has happened to me a lot in the past before too, so I don't know what's going on. I know people who have the same exact phone and versions that aren't experiencing this problem.

It's possible that you inadvertently turned on "Secret Mode"?

Open Samsung Internet > Settings > and look for "Secret Mode".

Check if it is Turned On.

If it is, turn it off.

Hi, we kindly request you to use your device in safe mode for a few hours and check if you still have the same issue with search history getting erased automatically.
To enter Safe Mode, please perform the following:
1.First, completely power off the phone.
2.Then, power on the phone and when the Samsung logo appears, press and hold down the Volume down key.
3.If done correctly, "Safe Mode" will display on the bottom left corner of the screen. If "Safe Mode" does not appear, repeat the steps above.
4.Once you are in Safe Mode, you can remove the third-party app that is causing issues on your phone.
5.To exit Safe Mode, simply restart your phone and it will reboot normally.

How do I know which third-party app is causing these issues?

I can't imagine that a 3rd party app would be deleting your Search & Browsing history on it's own.

If it was, then process of elimination, going back to apps that you installed, just prior to the issue occurring, and uninstall those, one at a time.

There doesn't seem to be any third-party apps causing this issue.

Of course not, and as I said:

"I can't imagine that a 3rd party app would be deleting your Search & Browsing history on it's own."

Samsung's Moderators don't appear to have much experience with Samsung, or Android in general.

They essentially use a Flip chart to cut 'n paste "answers".

If your search history is not getting saved, it's either a setting in Samsung Internet, or more likely to be in Google's Search Settings.

See the screen shots.

Click on your Google Search & your Avatar & then Search History & Then you probably have Saving Toggled OFF like in the 3rd screen shot.

As mentioned earlier, this setting is only available on the Google app and not the Samsung Internet app. Even if the two apps settings were connected somehow, my search history setting is on and auto-delete is off. I also mentioned that although I'm not signed into my Google account on the Samsung Internet app, this has never been an issue for me and is not an issue for anyone I know personally (this is not refering to syncing). Furthermore, there's no toggle setting for search history and only the option to delete browsing data which wouldn't explain why my search history in the Google search bar is always blank.Screenshot_20220906-144414_Samsung Internet.jpgScreenshot_20220906-144258_Samsung Internet.jpgScreenshot_20220906-144410_Samsung Internet.jpgScreenshot_20220906-144249_Google Play services.jpg

If you're using Samsung's Internet System app, you can try Uninstalling All Updates to the app & Reboot. Update Samsung Internet to the latest version & see if that works?

If you're using Samsung's Internet Beta Browser, Uninstall & Reinstall. See if that works?

If neither of these suggestions work, you could backup your device with Smart Switch & Factory Reset.

I have no issues with Search History being retained on my device, with either version of Samsung Internet.
