Samsung Messages and Google RCS availability?

What ever happened to this collaboration between Samsung and Google, I feel like we haven't heard anything new. Why isn't Google's RCS implemented in Android Pie's Samsung Messages yet?

I wonder if we need to wait for at least CSAB or later build for this to be available in Canada or it won't be included
