Galaxy SHey Valerie222,
By activating Use Volume keys for media, you are able to control the media volume by default when you press the volume keys. There are two ways of enabling or disabling this function either through your Quick Settings panel or via your Sounds and vibration settings.
Go to Settings> select Sounds and vibration> Toggle on Use Volume keys for media.
Then perform the sound test using the Samsung members application to diagnose the issue exactly, if the issue with the earpods or the phone.
Open the Samsung Members app> Tap on Get Help> Select Interactive checks> Tap on Speaker icon> Tap on Speaker to play the simple sound, then hold your phone to your ear as if you were taking a call. Select between Yes or No if you could hear a sound. You will need to follow the above steps to test the Media speaker as well.
Once you have completed the interaction check for both the in-call speaker and media speaker, you will be able to determine if you require further support.
If the same issue persists, try connecting to any other device and check if it works without any interruption on the other devices. If it works on other devices then this might be an issue with the compatibility. Please contact your Bluetooth device manufacturer so that they will help you with the available options.
