Hi, My new Samsung S20+ wouldn’t find my access point’s (Ubiquity APAC Pro) 5Ghz SSID network, very upsetting when you’re excitedly exploring your brand new phone. We are actually an “iPhone family” and there are about 30 devices those access both 2.4 and 5Ghz SSID without any issue. Although the S20+ connects to my 2.4Ghz SSID. After a lot of trials and errors I found out that all channel frequencies  of 5Ghz band isn't accessible by S20+; my router’s channel selection was on Auto and that was the problem. When I changed the channel to 153-157(US) it worked and found the 5Ghz SSID. Later I tried with all other channels and it can’t detect the 5G SSID. I think this is a bug in the WiFi adapter of the phone and I would appreciate Samsung to resolve the issue may be though a firmware update ASAP.
Cheers!

Hey@Imam2079,
I suggest you verify your phone with different wifi networks and get back to us with the results.
If the problem persists with all wifi networks, you need to reset the network settings by following the below steps.
Go to Settings >> General management >> Reset >> Reset network settings >> Reset settings.
This will reset all network settings, including those for Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth.

Hey Halston,

Thank you for your prompt reply. Well, I have tried with some other Wifi routers like TP-Link WDR-3600 and Xiaomi 4, but same result. No channels of 5GHz bands below 153-157-161-165 can be accessed by S20 Plus. For some reason it doesn't detect the SSID of 5GHz. I tried all the channels those are listed here in the picture below just for reference. My Unifi AP-AC-Pro access point has all these channels. Thanks

Hi@Imam2079,

I suggest you to perform the wipe cache partition on your phone and check if it works and get back to us with the results.
Follow the below steps:
1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
3. When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
4. An 'Installing system update' message may show briefly before the Android Recovery menu options appear.
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight Wipe cache partition.
6. Press Bixby / Power key to select.
7. Press the Volume down key to highlight Yes, then press the Bixby / Power key to select.
8. When the process is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
9. Press the Bixby / Power key to restart the device.

Why hello there so I have learned that well the Galaxy s20 is in 120 HZ mode for some reason the Wi-Fi adapter switches the 2.4 GHz instead of 5.0 GHz I found this out when playing the x cloud for Xbox game pass it told me that I was using the 2.4 GHz adapter and I needed to use the 5.0 GHz adapter when I changed from 120 HZ to 60 hertz in the display mode it fixed the problem

hi, I have the same problem. I've also tried resetting my network connections. still same issue. no 5ghz wifi connections visible to connect to.

if i change the channel from auto to 165 then I'm able to see and connect to the 5ghz connection. of course this doesn't help for the 5ghz connections where I don't have access to their routers lol.

could you please help with a resolution. thanks in advance

BTW I'm using an ASUS RT-AC56U Router

Also my s20+ is two days old. purchased directly from samsung, model SM-G986W
