Galaxy Shello, everyone I am trying to figure out how samsung smart switch backups tansfers photos and videos and documents. Is samsung smart switch copying them ? moving them ? making some kind of intermediate temporary file then copying them ? What is it actually doing ? Because when my brother used samsung smart switch to transfer everything from his many phones -- xiaomi mi max, galaxy s7, LG G3 into a note 8. Alot of files were not discernable from where it came from. Why is that information not organized and lost. And worst of it all, he transferred another duplicate xiaomi mi max phone to the note 8 and now I dont know which files came from the 1st or 2nd xiaomi mi max phone. Both phones are formatted incorrectly and broken. Furthermore, he made a note 8 smart switch backup on the PC with ALL the files from all the previous phones and multiple copies of PC backups of previous phones as well. I am so lost to deal with smart switch and how it transfers and organizes files going from multiple devices.

Galaxy SHi Members_xPmFH6p,
Smart Switch seamlessly transfers multiple types of data to your Samsung Galaxy from different devices in the way that works best for you.
Regardless of whether you’re coming from another Galaxy, iOS or other Android device, the data you care about can now be brought over to your new Galaxy effortlessly.
Smart Switch migrates different types of files to your new Galaxy, including photos, videos, notes, calendar events and even device settings.
On Smart Switch, you can choose which device you want to transfer data from and see what types of data can be transferred. If your previous device is a Samsung Galaxy model, you’ll be able to transfer just about everything, including all your messages, multimedia content, Wi-fi settings and even your home screen settings.
https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/smart-switch/
Kindly visit the link given above for more details on what types of data Smart Switch can transfer.
Thank you.

Galaxy Sis there no organization to separate devices and it's files so that users can know which files came from which device even from 2 of the same device models ?

Galaxy SIf I look at my USB OTG device, I can only see the date & time (I think), that shows when the backup was created.
I don't think that I've ever seen any backup utility, that would show what the device source was... even going back to Titanium Backup & Restore, which is deprecated, or Swift Backup & Restore.
They all seem to be designed to have one source for the backup.. as far as I can see.

Galaxy SAhhh that's another drawback, the date modified atleast should be preserved when making a copy of a backup, but I see that all the date and time fields become the date of the transfer. This is completely stupid in my opinion, and should be absolutely changed.

Galaxy SSmart Switch isn't capable of transferring data from multiple devices to one device.
When you backup to Smart Switch, it creates one backup. When you restore to the new device, it will restore from the one backup.
If you're using an OTG device, ie: USB Storage, you can navigate to different backups, and restore from the selected backup.. but I'm not sure if it will overwrite previously restored data.
If you're asking what I think that you are asking, you can probably do it, but you'll need to manually consolidate your backups into one, and then restore that.. at least that's how I think it'll work.
