Hello, I'm having some problems setting up my sim cards and need some help.
I'm using a S25+, Canadian version, unlocked purchased direct from Samsung. My carrier is Telus and I am on a prepaid esim for calls and texts only. No data plan. I have a 3HK global travelling data sim card as my secondary sim.
I used to have a note 8 with a dual simcard slot where I could select which card for calls and texts, and which for data. Now with the S25+, there is only one sim card slot and one esim. My sim manager screen does not show the option for me to set a preferred sim for calls, texts and data separately. It only allows me to select which sim is primary and the primary sim, in my case is the esim, will be for call, texts and data. I checked with Telus and they said it was a Samsung issue. I checked with Samsung support. They could not help and asked me to post this issue here. Hope some can give me a hand. Thx

So, I have an S24 Ultra, and haven't moved my eSIM from my iPhone. So you're saying if I put the eSIM on my Samsung I can't specify my Physical SIM as my data provider and eSIM and Phone and SMS?

In the SIM manager settings you should have the ability to change the preferred SIM for calls, messages and mobile data.

This short YouTube video shows the SIM manager settings screen:

Hey Robert, thx for your reply. For some reasons, my sim manager screen does not provide this option. I can only select which one is primary. I think this might be a Canadian Version Galaxy issue. My friend has a S24 ultra with Rogers with the same issue. My note 8 is a Asian version and doesn't have this issue. Anyway, talked to Telus again. Basically, they said I could set my physical sim as the primary sim card. With that I will be able to use that for data. On the other hand, I can still receive calls and SMS sent to my local Telus esim. That works. The only catch is that when I place a call or send a SMS, I need to pick which sim to use. Or for those you call or text frequently, you can set the default sim to the esim in the "Contact". I think I can live with this now. But still hope that either Samsung or Telus can fix this issue soon.

The same device in other countries has the same functionality. It would be, well, incredibly dumb if the Canadian version didn't work the same way. It can't be regulations because iPhones can set a preferred mobile data SIM.

And for Samsung support to tell you to come here for an answer is also boggling.

Hey Diggy, I would suggest you talk to your carrier first before making the move. Some say this is a Carrier issue. Some say it's a Samsung issue. I can't tell. Right now, I have managed to make it work for me. But, it might not work for you.

Hi TW904,

Thank you for sharing your experience and workaround it’s helpful for others facing a similar issue!

The setup you described setting your physical SIM as primary for data and using the eSIM for calls and SMS is indeed a functional workaround, albeit not as seamless as having separate preferences for each function.

Your feedback about assigning default SIMs for specific contacts is also an excellent tip for managing calls and texts efficiently.

We completely understand how this could be frustrating. Hopefully, this limitation will be addressed in future updates to enable the full SIM Manager functionality.

I switched from Bell physical SIM card to CharR eSim and when the eSim was "installed" it gave me an option to choose on the screen as like a pop-up when pairing my headphones.
