I have an S8 Plus and my wife has the S9 Plus, and we're both on the Bell network.

According to the Bell website, both these phones are compatible with Bell's Advanced Messaging (RCS) services.

However, the messages sent using the default Samsung Messages app are still being sent as standard SMS/MMS texts. This happens even after I force the message styles to "Chat" in settings. According to the Bell website, both of these phones should default to the RCS.

Any ideas why Advanced Messaging is not working?

@jamesy, did you do anything different to your phone settings, or did Advanced Messaging work automatically?

No, it should be automatic. Anyhow, after an extremely long phone call to Bell tech support, they claimed the RCS settings were "not activated" on my account. Which is contrary to what they said on their website (link above). After 24 hours, Advanced Messaging is now working
