I am unable to answer calls with the swipe option and hv to use the up/down buttons to answer calls.
I also cannot swipe/tap the dismiss/snooze buttons on my alarm app.
The touchscreen is unresponsive.
However, I have no issues with the touchscreen when using other apps or features.
Any suggestions or solutions would be much appreciated.

Did you try testing the screen with the Interactive Device Check here on the Samsung Members app?
I had a Touch Screen issue on my S8+ there were "dead" zones on parts of the screen and initially it looked like I'd have to visit a Samsung Service Centre - But a Factory Reset resolved the issue for me - If you decide to Factory Reset - Backup your device with Smart Switch before 🐧
